    On 24 and 25 February, we headed to Sun Exhibits in GrandWest in Cape Town to host the firast of our AfrEsports events.

    On the agenda for the weekend was console esports, gaming in general, vendors and some socialising with other like-minded souls.

    While the main focus were saw Call of Duty and FIFA 18 offering the big cash prizes, MWEB sponsored the Mini-Tournaments for a variety of additional titles and Apex Interactive ensured plenty of products for those competing in the King of the Hill events.

    It started with 48 teams over two qualifiers but ended with one winner on the night. The MWEB GameZone Masters Series for Rocket League proved to be an exciting series that culminated this past Sunday as the top four battled for the cash up for grabs.

    The four teams faced off in a double elimination bracket with the winner's leg played as a best of five and the loser's as a best of three.

    The action proved to be exhilarating, breathless, one-sided and tense in equal measures - and at times, all at once too.

    This past weekend saw something a little unique and something perhaps never before achieved in South Africa. On one day, three cities hosted Call of Duty console LAN tournaments, with each seeing their winners walking off with cash and XP towards their ACGL seasonal ranking.

    In Cape Town we partnered with MWEB GameZone to ensure the ten registered teams could play in comfort for the day. Johannesburg saw The Nexus play the consummate host to eight teams, while the four Port Elizabeth teams were hosted at Game On and facilitated by Plan-G.

    This Sunday, prepare yourself for some high flying Rocket League action as the top four teams from the MWEB GameZone Master Series qualifiers clash for their shot to become this season's Champions!

    For the past two months teams from across South Africa have been battling in the first ever tournament on South African Rocket League servers.

    The first MGMS qualifier kicked off at the start of the holiday season and managed to gain 16 entries into the tournament. The qualifier was divided into two separate sessions. The first session determined the top three teams that would make it into the second session - the final day of play.

    We are very excited to kick off with the ACGL Minor LAN program which starts this Saturday (3 February). Tournaments will be held in Johannesburg, PE and Cape Town in an effort to further support local competitive gaming.

    While pre-payment registration via the ACGL shop has been open for the past week, today we are opening up registration to all those that wish to pay entry at the door.

    We're pleased to announce that the ACGL Shop is now open for business and selling Connection Credits (CC) and tickets to the Minor LAN events. The Shop will begin adding more in the coming days, including the services options, AfrEsports tickets and more.

    You can purchase Connection Credits via the Shop in various bundle options. The CC will allow you to enter the pay-for-play tournaments (starting this week) which will feature cash prize pools.

    Three teams entered the arena in the MWEB Masters Series Rocket League Championships qualifier two this past Sunday to determine who would be heading to the grand final of the series.

    On the line was R3,750 in cash and two spots in the the upcoming Grand Finals where the top two from qualifier one lay in wait.

    The winner's bracket final saw xD.Dangerkids (representing Exdee Gaming) face off against Revenant Esports. The best of three series went the way of the Exdee team 2-0 and with a goal count of 11-4.
