• Plenty to win at the EGE 2018 PC Stage
    Read More

This year we are working with the ZA Gaming Alliance Facebook group, Computer Mania and MWEB to bring the PC stage to life. Cougar Gaming will be providing the gaming peripherals needed to compete. Thanks to the support of Computer Mania there is also a ACER Predator Helios Laptop worth R18,999 up for grabs.

For those looking to test out their skills in a variety of games over the weekend, head to the ZAGA PC stage where Dota 2, League of Legends, CS:GO, PUBG and maybe a surprise title or two will be played. The idea is to encourage participation or even spectatorship and the tournaments will be social by nature but there will be winners. And those winners will be able to walk off with products valued at around R21,000. You won't have to compete if you don't want to, because just being around at the right time will put you in-line for some goodies. This is thanks to the "tons of SWAG" from brands such as Corsair, ASUS, MSI, Acer and more.

On Friday and Saturday, Dota 2, CS:GO and PUBG will feature on rotation through the day. While Sunday will see League of Legends replace Dota 2. On the stage will be ten PCs ready for participants to compete at in a first-come-first-served fashion. The ZAGA admins will be on hand for a number of challenges and for Facebook group members to troll. Or just say "hi" to. For those not members of the group, you are still welcome (and encouraged) to join the action over the three days.

  • EGE 2018 Fighting Game Tournaments
    Read More

As we race closer to the Electronics & Gaming Expo on 27 to 29 July, we are opening registrations for the fighting games planned for the weekend.

Tekken 7 and Injustice 2 will feature as the focus titles and each will offer a cash prize pool of R2,500. Both titles will be played on PlayStation 4. To enter, players need to register here and have a day pass in their possession. There is (currently) a 32-player cap per title which will be a double elimination bracket, so pre-registering is highly recommended. To secure your spot, please send us a photo of your ticket (to admin@acgl.co.za) to confirm. Walk-ins will be accepted as long as the entry cap has not been reached, however, preference will be given in the following order: confirmed pre-registered players, unconfirmed pre-registered players and then walk-ins.

Over the course of the weekend, a number of other fighting titles will be hosted in more adhoc first-come-first-served mini-tournaments. These will offer products as prizes and will not feature pre-registration. A full event schedule will be released to give you more on times and days to expect these.

  • A Thanks to the Local Fortnite Community
    Read More

Over the last few months we’ve been extremely impressed and grateful to a growing and very enthusiastic local Fortnite community. Since launching our weekly online tournaments we have been blown away by both player numbers and the willingness to stream matches to others.

Consider this our thank you to you all. And because we want others to watch and support you, we would like to let people know where they can watch your streams come tournament time:

Of course, many of the streamers continue to stream even when they’re not participating in Thursday’s 1v1 and Saturday’s 2v2 tournaments, so remember to subscribe to their channels and engage with them continuously.

  • Rush Esports 2018 Goes Large
    Read More

After a great experience at Rush Esports in 2017, we always wondered how 2018 would top the inaugural event. We're pretty happy to say that due to the hard work of plenty of behind-the-scenes folk, 2018 went as all out as a second year event could and left us wishing 2019 was here already.

This year, we were honoured to operate both the Vodacom 4U Football and Fortnite Cups at the event. Football was a FIFA 18 tournament played on PlayStation, while Fortnite was more ‘experimental’ and was played on mobile.

  • A Response on our Minor LAN Cancellation
    Read More

We would like to address the reaction to our announcement on cancelling this past weekend’s ‘Minor LAN’ for Call of Duty in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth. At the same time, we would like to explain further why we host these events.

    Lack of pre-registrations

It is important to note that we do not make decisions to cancel events lightly but at less than 24-hours before the scheduled start of the LANs in those three cities, we had not reached the minimum entry requirement of four teams per venue to proceed. Only Durban had achieved this requirement, meaning it was not affected by the cancellation announcement.
