    After four long weeks of gruelling qualifiers, only eight players remain to fight for survival in the Injustice 2 Legendary League. On the 14th of October, the remaining eight from around Sub Saharan Africa gathered to kick off the Legendary League. The opening matches were streamed live to an audience of enthusiastic spectators who made sure that their voice was heard throughout the stream.

    During the qualification process, the top two players from each of the four online qualifiers received invites to join the Legendary League. Here are the players that managed to make it into the final eight.

    The Injustice 2 Legendary League kicks off this weekend. Over the past four weeks, players have been competing for their chance to qualify into the Legendary League and battle it out for their share of over R12 000 in cash prizes. After some intense action, we have our eight finalists who will take to the stage in our opening fixtures which will be streamed live for your entertainment.

    It's official, the Injustice 2 Legendary Series Qualifiers have been completed after four gruelling weeks of competition. On Sunday, the 30th of September, the final four players from the very last qualifier went head to head for their shot to gain entry into the Legendary League. After some amazing comebacks, epic combos and impressive tech we saw some of the most exciting gameplay in the last qualifier. 

    The Qualifiers (29 September) 

    With only two spaces left in the Legendary League, the last qualifier was set to test the perseverance and dedication of the last war-torn fighters. Once the bracket was generated, it was clear that some had an easier road to the final four than others. The lower side of the bracket was clearly stacked as some of the best fighters in Sub-Saharan Africa were readying themselves for battle.

    African Esports is on the rise as some of the best players across the continent have been showing their talent in the Injustice 2 Legendary Series. This past weekend, in the third online qualifier, an additional two players earned their spot in the Injustice 2 Legendary League. They will now join the four fighters that have been waiting on the sidelines for the kickoff of the Legendary League where cash and glory are on the line.

    Once again, players from all around Sub-Saharan Africa gathered to the ACGL website at 14:00 (CAT) to find out who they would face in the third qualifier for the Legendary League. There were some interesting once we reached the semi-finals.

    After an eventful and exciting first week of qualifiers, we eventually managed to find our top two contenders for the Injustice 2 Legendary League. Last week Saturday was marked as the kick-off of the second qualifiers. Players from all around Sub-Saharan Africa took to the gruelling 32 player double-elimination bracket in order to try to prove themselves worthy opposition for the Legendary League.  

    The Qualifiers (15 September) 

    The qualifiers kicked off on Saturday at 2 pm where players from over six different African countries (Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe) gathered to test their might against one another in the first day of play.

    When we kicked off our third season of competitive gaming for 2018, we promised a few changes for some of the titles we hosted. We had a fair few requests to host Rainbow Six Siege across all platforms in a league format, and today we are happy to announce that we have heard the call and are happy to oblige.

    Registrations are now open for our Rainbow Six Siege league which will be hosted on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Registrations will close on Sunday 23 September 2018 at 21h00, with the tournament starting - as long as there are a minimum of eight teams (per platform) registered - on Monday 24 September 2018. Should the rquired minimum of eight (8) teams not be reached, the affected platform (or platforms) will be cancelled - so make sure to tell your fellow Rainbow Six Siege players today.

    Tournament format and group sizes will be determined by entry numbers, but teams will have a week (Monday to Sunday) to play the allocated opponent for the week. Failure to play the match by the end of Sunday, will result in both teams forfeiting points.

    This past weekend players from all around Sub-Saharan African took to the ACGL website and Injustice 2 to battle it out for the opportunity to compete for placement into the Legendary League and R1000 in cash prizes. The first qualifier would set the tone for weeks to come and only two players, out of the 32 that entered, would qualify for the Legendary League. 

    The Qualifiers  (7 September)

    Players from over four Southern African Nations (Kenya, South Africa Zambia and Zimbabwe) gathered at 14:00 SAST to get themselves checked-in and ready to test their might against some of the best fighters in Africa. The first day of play would whittle the competition down to the final four players who would go head-to-head on Sunday (8 September) on live stream via the ACGL YouTube channel.

    This weekend, qualifier one of the Injustice 2 Legendary Series kicks off. On the line over the next two months is R12,500 cash as some the best Injustice 2 PlayStation 4 fighters compete across four qualifiers, a league and the grand finals.

    This weekend's qualifier starts at 14h00 on Saturday and continues with the top four on Sunday from 17h00, at which point the action will be streamed live via our YouTube channel. You can tune in then to find out which fighters will head to the Legendary League starting on 14 October.

    The top two players will also secure themselves a share of R1,000 up for grabs, while another R8,500 cash prize pool waits on completion of the series.

    This past weekend saw us hosting the second edition of Afresports at the GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World in Cape Town. The big focus of the event was the Fortnite Festival which brought the first custom lobby experience to Africa. 

    As the dust settled on the weekend, there were the usual winners and losers across all titles, but we hope that for all attendees and competitors, the weekend was an enjoyable one, and that gaming stood out as the real winner.

    This coming weekend at Afresports at GrandWest in Cape Town, we will be hosting Tekken 7 and Dota 2 (1v1) tournaments with cash prizes up for grabs.

    There will be a standalone tournament for each title per day, with R1,200 in cash up for grabs per tournament. Entry will cost R50 per player per day. Each tournament will have a 32-player entry cap with a minimum of 16 players required per tournament to proceed. Pre-registrations are open with tickets available at the venue. Walk-ins will also be accepted - as long as there is space still. Players are also welcome to compete on both days but should note that the R50 fee is applicable per day.

    The equipment for each of these events will be supplied. However, should Tekken 7 fighters want to use their own controllers, they may do so. For the Dota 2, PCs are being supplied by MWEB, while peripherals are being supplied by Cougar Gaming.

    We are pretty excited to announce our Fortnite Festival at Afresports, and in doing so, we reveal that it will be the first custom lobby event for the title in Africa.

    On 1 and 2 September 2018 at GrandWest in Cape Town, 64 PlayStation 4 competitors and 64 PC competitors will compete at once on their chosen platform for their share of R20,000 in cash.

    This Fortnite Festival is possible thanks to MWEB and Internet Solutions who will be supplying the internet connection needed to ensure all players in attendance can enjoy their experience.

    We are pleased to announce the details of event two in our AfrEsports series. This follows on the first event we hosted in February at Sun Exhibits in GrandWest.

    As with the first event, we will be bringing a variety of tournaments to life over the first weekend of September with cash and products up for grabs. Attendees can also expect to gain access to spectate and shop at the various vendors for free, while participants in the various tournament titles will be required to purchase a pass for the game of choice.

    Alongside the more 'serious' tournaments, we will be hosting a number of quickfire 'King of the Hill' events, a fastest lap competition, game demos and more.

    Last week we announced the ACGL Application Beta for Android devices.  In the past eight days, since the launch of the application, we have managed to fix a few errors and squash some bugs - thanks to the feedback from our initial 100 users who were invited to the beta program.

    Today however, we have some great news as we are moving out of Beta and on to full release on the Play Store. The application is now available to download (2mb) for free and is currently exclusive to Android devices. We are working on the iOS version but we are yet to have an estimated release date - watch this space!
