The top ten players from the Gauteng qualifiers faced off this Tuesday in Melrose Arch. On the line in the Rocomamas Smashball Series were four slots at the Cape Town grand finals on 7 December.

The Gauteng playoffs were played on a Swiss tournament format over six rounds. Each round was a two-leg match with the aggregate score determining the match winner. In a close fought night of matches, it came down to the very last round to determine which of the players would secure the spots in Cape Town.

In the end, five players ended with four wins each, with the tie-breaker (wins against the other players on matching points) determining the final four as:

  • 8zaidy8
  • Shuaib07
  • Z_EBRAHIM
  • Pirates UnFaizdd

Congratulations to the qualifying players, and thanks to all the contestants over the 10 branch tournaments. On 7 December, players who did not qualify at either the Gauteng playoff or the upcoming Cape Town events will get one last chance to take their shot. Details of the last chance qualifier will be announced soon.

The Cape Town qualifiers kick off on 11 November and take in four Western Cape branches. Details of the Cape Town leg in the series are available here.

The Rocomamas FIFA 20 tournament series is played exclusively on PlayStation 4, and is brought to you in partnership with ZAPA and PlayStation South Africa, with peripheral prizes sponsored by Apex Interactive.
