We are extremely excited to reveal the plans for season one of Mortal Kombat 11, brought to you in partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and the game's local distributor TeamFinity.

From 1 June until the end of July, there will be several competitive opportunities available to fans of the latest entry into the Mortal Kombat series. Across a number of online tournaments and a venue-based final event, competitors will battle for their share of merchandise, R30,000 cash and a trip to compete at the Celtic Throwdown event in Dublin, Ireland.

The Match-Finder

On the 1st of June we kick things off with our daily match-finder ladders. The match-finder is a great entry point for players of all skill levels and to prepare for what’s next.

Every weekday at 5pm and weekends at 10am, we open the match-finder and run it until 10pm. Players can search for potential and available opponents online during that time to compete against each other. Reporting the scores sees players placed using an ELO rating system, which in turn will allow us to seed players for the cups that will follow.

The more players competing, the more matches you will get to play and prove your worth. There will be an incentive to compete with players completing at least five matches a week being entered into a random draw for merchandise.

The Mortal Kombat 11 match-finder is already live for those keen to compete. The player who finishes top of the ladder at the end of May will be rewarded with a Fokof Lager vs Mortal Kombat 11 hamper which includes:

  • A Fokof Lager six pack
  • A bottle opener
  • A key chain

On the 1st of June the match-finder will be reset and Season One will get underway.

The Cups... or Kups?

Three cups will operate weekly from 11 June. Players will compete for XP (our equivalent of Pro Points) towards their standing in the leaderboard. On completion of the three cups, the top sixteen players from the leaderboard will be invited to compete in the Pro Cup.

The Pro Cup is currently scheduled for 1 July 2019. Things will get serious as the top four from the Pro Cup will secure their slots at the venue-based final. They will have their travel and accommodation covered for the event scheduled for 27 July 2019.

The venue-based event will also host a last chance qualifier for those that did not make it via the online campaign. Finishing top four in the open bracket will secure you a shot against the online top four. On the line is an opportunity to head to the Celtic Throwdown event in Ireland, as well as a R30,000 cash prize pool.

The tournament is open to all residents in Sub-Saharan Africa. Some terms and conditions will apply, and players will need to be 18 years or older on the 1st of June 2019. Additionally, you will need to ensure your Passport is valid for the trip to Ireland. The tournament will be run on PlayStation®4 using the NetherRealm Studio’s developed fighting game, Mortal Kombat 11.
