Welcome to the home of the Injustice 2 South African Cup where competitors will be battling for their share of R60,000 cash, product and a coveted slot in the VS Fighting tournament in Birmingham this August.

Below you will be able to find out everything you need to know in order to compete in the Injustice 2 South African Cup.

 

 

To participate in the Injustice 2 South African Cup, you must:

  • Be a South African citizen or permanent resident of the Republic of South Africa;
  • Be 18 years or older on 19th May 2017;
  • Hold a valid Passport;
  • An ACGL account - Register Here

Enter this competition in your personal capacity and not as a business, i.e. a company, close corporation, trust, partnership or any other legal entity cannot participate.

Format

Online Heats > Online 16 Qualifier > Grand Final Top 4 

 

  

 

There will be a total of four online heats.

 

Each online heat will be played to a double elimination (Best of 3) format and allow up to 128 players to enter.

XP points will be awarded to participants based on their individual result in each tournament. The higher you place in each respective tournament, the more XP you will earn. Learn more about the XP System here. 

 

 

The 16 players with the most accumulated XP at the end of the four online heats will qualify to play in the Top 16 Online qualifier, played on the 25th of June. 

The Online Top 16 Qualifier will be played to a double elimination (Best of 5) format. The Top 4 will qualify for the Injustice 2 South African Cup Grand Finals. 

 

 

The top 4 players will qualify to play in the Grand Final for their shot at an all-expense paid trip to the finale event featuring Jack Parow and Fokofpolosiekar on the 8th of July.

The players placing 5th to 8th will be invited as guest MVPs to the event as the 'Pro Challengers' and receive R2 500 in cash

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE INJUSTICE 2 CONDUCTED BY STER KINEKOR ENTERTAINMENT

 

Ster Kinekor Entertainment, a division of Primedia (Pty) Limited (Registration Number: 2005/044403/07) (“SKE” or “Promoter”) is conducting this tournament (“the tournament”).

 

African Cyber Gaming League (Pty) Limited (Registration Number: 2015/107437/07) (“ACGL”) is the tournament operator (“the operator”).

 

All participants, by entering the tournament, agree to be bound by these terms and conditions:

 

ENTRY AND PRIZE DETAILS:

  1. To participate in this competition, you must:

 

    1. Be a South African citizen or permanent resident of the Republic of South Africa;

    2. Be 18 years or older on 19th May 2017;

    3. Hold a valid Passport;

    4. Enter this competition in your personal capacity and not as a business, i.e. a company, close corporation, trust, partnership or any other legal entity cannot participate.

 

  1. To enter the Tournament, you must register online at (www.acgl.co.za/I2CZA) after which you will receive a confirmation mail with all the relevant details including but not limited to date, time and venue of the tournament stage.

  2. On the day of the Online Tournament(s), you must check-in via the Tournament Page at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time of the Tournament.

  3. By entering the Tournament  you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

  4. Each respective tournament is limited to one entry per person. No Entrant may win more than one Prize (as defined below).

  5. There will be a total of four (4) online Tournament heats, hosted online each a “Heat”. The winner of each Heat will be determined as follows:

    1. Entrants will be drawn against one another based on XP seed order as determined by the Operator;

    2. In the case of no XP seed the player will be randomly assigned,

    3. Each pair of Entrants drawn together will play an Injustice 2 match against each other on PlayStation 4 [gaming system] online;

    4. In each winner’s bracket match the Entrant who wins will progress to the next round and the Entrant will who loses will be added to the loser’s bracket;

    5. In each loser’s bracket match the Entrant who wins will progress to the next round and the other Entrant will be eliminated from the Heat;

    6. The winner of each match will be the first Entrant to win two rounds;

    7. Matches will be played on a [double elimination knockout] basis, with each surviving Entrant being drawn to play against another surviving Entrant, until only one surviving Entrant remains for each Heat (each such surviving Entrant a “Heat Winner”). Where any Entrant fails to attend a match at the allotted time, is disqualified or refuses to participate in a match their opponent will win by default.

 

  1. To ensure the correct number of participants for the knockout tournament format and to minimize the risk of Entrants being left without an opponent, each online heat will facilitate up to 128 Entrants, depending on the number of Entrants who register. If there are less than 8 Entrants, the heat will be cancelled. If there are more than 128 entrants, a secondary tournament will be created and the participants will be placed per XP seed, evenly, into the two brackets. If there are entrants with no XP, they will be randomly assigned to a bracket.  

During each online tournament, all entrants will be awarded points (referred to as “XP”) post each tournament to assist with seeding and rankings for tournament moving forward. The first tournament will randomly assign the entrants who will all start with 0 XP. XP will be awarded as below:

  1. The top 16 seeded players will compete online to contest for the top eight placements. The format of the online final 16 will be best of 5 matches, with Heat Winners drawn per seed to play matches against each other in a match of Injustice 2 on PlayStation 4 [gaming system] on a double elimination basis until only one Heat Winner remains (subject to paragraph 10, the “Injustice 2 Champion”). If a Heat Winner fails to participate in the online finals, the next available seeded player will be eligible to play. The Promoter reserves the right to replace any disqualified Heat Winner with an alternative participant of its choice.

  2. The promoter will cover travel costs such as flight tickets, transport and meals for players included in the Top 4 to attend the National Final taking place in Pretoria, Gauteng on the 8th July 2017.

  3. The Promoter will offer an Injustice 2 gamer kit to top 16 placed Entrants, consisting of:

    1. Injustice 2 Pro Gamer Shirt;

    2. Injustice 2 Pro Gamer Hoodie;

    3. Injustice 2 Pro Gamer Bag;

    4. One (1) PlayStation Revolution Pro Controller.

      3. Top eight (4) players will proceed to compete at the live South African Grand Final for the “Grand Prize

 

GRAND PRIZE

 

  1. The Injustice 2 Champion receives a final grand prize [- which includes at a minimum a place in the United Kingdom, at the VS Fighting Expo] (the “Grand Prize”).

 

  1. The Grand Prize will consist of:

    1. Travel to Birmingham to attend Grand Final, departing on the 11th August 2017 from Johannesburg International Airport and returning to South Africa on the 15th August 2017.

    2. Accommodation whilst in the UK for the duration of the Grand Final

    3. R20 000 (ZAR) Cash component

 

  1. The Promoter will also offer a runner-up prize to the second placed Entrant, consisting of:

    1. The Entrant that places second will receive:

      1. R 15 000 (ZAR) cash component;

 

  1. The Promoter will also offer a prize to the third placed Entrant, consisting of:

    1. The Entrant that places third will receive:

      1. R 10 000 (ZAR) cash component;

 

  1. The Promoter will also offer a prize to the fourth placed Entrant, consisting of:

    1. The Entrant that places fourth will receive:

      1. R 5 000 (ZAR) cash component;

 

  1. The Promoter will also offer a prize to Entrants placed fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth, consisting of:

    1. The Entrant that places fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth will receive:

      1. R 2 500 (ZAR) cash component;

 

  1. The Injustice 2 Champion will be responsible for:

 

    1. Ensuring they meet all entry/visa requirements for the country he/she will be visiting. The Injustice 2 Champion is responsible for registering with the US Visa Waiver programme: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov if applicable.

    2. Transfers to and from the JHB airport plus any associated travel costs (for example parking) which are not included in the Grand Prize.

    3. The cost of all other optional activities on offer during the stay.

 

  1. The Promoter may refuse to award the prize if entry procedures or these terms and conditions have not been adhered to or if it detects any irregularities or fraudulent practices.

 

  1. The Grand Prize has no cash alternative, is non-transferable and non-refundable. The Promoters reserve the right to substitute the Prize for that/those of equal value.

 

  1. The Promoter shall not be liable for any additional expenses incurred by the Injustice 2 Champion in connection with the Grand Prize including but not limited to travel, parking, accommodation, costs of obtaining a visa, food or refreshments exceeding daily per diem allowance.

 

  1. Each winner  will be notified that they have won within 48 hours of the final tournament event by email (the “Notification”). The Promoter will make the winners aware of any reasonable arrangements for the redemption of the Prizes. In the event that a winner does not accept a Prize within two (2) days of the Notification, the Winner will forfeit their rights to the Prize.

 

  1. The Promoter reserves the right to make reasonable alternative arrangements, including but not limited to selecting another Entrant to participate in the Grand Final and/or awarding a Prize to a runner up, in the event that:

    1. A Winner does not accept a Prize within the prescribed time ;

    2. An Entrant is disqualified; or

    3. An Entrant is unable to compete in the Tournament or Grand Final for any reason.

 

  1. If an Entrant is unable to participate in the Grand Final for a reason outside of that Entrant’s control, the Promoter reserves the right to reallocate parts (a) and (b) of the Grand Prize to the second placed Entrant, and thereafter the third placed Entrant if necessary.

 

GENERAL:

 

  1. The promoter of this competition is SKE (having its principal place of business at Primovie Park, 185 Katherine Street, Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa, 2146)

 

  1. Employees, directors, agents, contractors and consultants of SKE and all other participating companies and their immediate families, life partners, associates or business partners may not enter the competition.

 

  1. All information relating to this competition can be obtained from the South African extension of the global Website at www.acgl.co.za/I2CZA or other advertising material, which forms part of these terms and conditions of entry.  

 

  1. The winner must be able to identify him or herself (in a manner determined by SKE) as the person that entered the competition and must comply with the required validation procedures to claim the prize.

 

  1. The winner’s name and image may (with the consent of the winner) be published by SKE through relevant publications or media. By entering this competition, the winners grant permission for the use of their names for public relations & advertising purposes without any claim to compensation. Should the winner be willing to be photographed on request, this will also be without any claim to compensation. The winner acknowledges that SKE offers and grants the winner the opportunity to decline the abovementioned.

 

  1. Any personal data which you provide to the Promoter will be used solely for the purpose of administering the Tournament and contacting the winners regarding the Prizes. All personal data will be used in accordance with the Promoter’s standard privacy policy, copies of which are available from Promoter online. Entrants give their consent to the Promoter sharing such personal data as may be necessary for the purposes of arranging and administering the Grand Final.

 

  1. It is the participant’s responsibility to ensure that their contact details held by SKE are valid and correct.

 

  1. In the event of a dispute regarding any aspect of the competition and/or these terms and conditions, SKE’s decision will be final and binding and no correspondence may be entered into.

 

  1. SKE will not be held liable for any technical failures affecting participation in the competition and SKE assumes no liability whatsoever for any entry that has been omitted from participation for any reason whatsoever.

 

  1. SKE, their associated companies, directors, members, partners, employees, agents, consultants, suppliers, contractors and sponsors, assume no liability whatsoever for any direct or indirect loss or damage, death or injury arising from participation in the competition or from using the prize or for any loss or damage, death or injury howsoever arising.

 

  1. SKE may refuse to award the prize if entry procedures or these terms and conditions have not been adhered to or if it detects any irregularities or fraudulent practices.

 

  1. SKE reserves the right to disqualify, in its sole discretion, any Entrant who breaches these Rules or is guilty of cheating, inappropriate behavior or any other misconduct.

 

  1. SKE reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time, without notice, and such amendment shall be deemed to have taken effect from the date of publication of the revised terms and conditions on its website.

 

  1. SKE reserves the right to cancel, suspend or terminate this tournament, without notice at any time and no liability shall lie against SKE in favor of any participant or third party arising from such cancellation, suspension or termination.

 

  1. If any court of competent authority decides that any of the provisions of these Rules are invalid, unlawful or unenforceable to any extent, the Rule will, to that extent only, be severed from the remaining Rules, which will continue to be valid.

The participants acknowledge that all Copyright and Intellectual Property Rights used or embodied in connection with the competition such as, but not limited to, the software, designs, logo’s, documentation and information received (“material produced”) by the participants, as a result of the competition are and will remain the exclusive property of SKE.

Entrants also agree to irrevocably waive any moral rights or droit moral that they may have in the material produced and to release the Promoter and its associated companies, licensees and assigns from any claims for payment or other consideration whatsoever in connection with their use of the material.

 

  1. The participants warrant that the material produced in respect of the competition does not infringe upon the, or violate any intellectual Property Rights or Copyrights of any third party. Ownership of all Copyright and Intellectual Property Rights in any material produced by the participants because of the competition shall vest solely and exclusively in SKE.

INDEMNITY

 

By entering the competition, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless SKE, its directors, employees and agents, from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs or expenses (including but not limited to legal fees) arising from: (i) your breach of any of the terms contained herein; (ii) your breach of any third party rights, including without limitation any copyright, intellectual property, or privacy right; (iii) your breach of any laws and regulation in creating, posting and/or subsequently amending your submissions; or (iii) any claim that any one of your submissions caused damage to a third party. This indemnity shall survive the duration of the competition.

 

JURISDICTION

 

This competition shall be governed by the laws of South Africa and subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of South Africa over any claim or matter arising under or in connection with the tournament.
